AED Medical Authorization

According to the FDA, AED's are known as medical devices which require a prescription to purchase with an exception that is noted below.  There are many areas that will require a supervised physician for your AED Program.

Applicable federal, state and local laws must be followed for each AED owner.  You may get the assistance from your local EMS authority on these requirements.

AED Prescription Exception:

The FDA has approved

The Phillips HeartStart OnSite AED* has been FDA approved making it the AED prescription exception. Which means that you "DO NOT" need a prescription to buy this AED for your home. However, the infant/child pad for the Philips Onsite AED will still require a prescription.
